PERFORMANCE

Pivot Turn

A large range of depower and quick power generating ability, helps the kite turn on a dime without losing your speed and position on the wave.

Insta-Depower

Full depower control is a key element to dynamic wave riding, giving the kitesurfer the ability to balance power, wave maneuverability, and direct feeling with the wave.

3P2P Bridle (3 Point Double-Pulley Bridle)

The leading edge is supported by 3 bridle points and 2 pulleys in order to increase the distance of pulley movement, thus giving massive depower range.

Max Drift

The power profile keeps the kite stable and in position while riding downwind. This is vital in almost all wave riding conditions.

Quick Turn

All Blade kites are designed to be super reactive and quick turning. This is vital to progress as riders and define one's riding style.

3 Struts

The 3-strut kite design has proven itself since the day Blade introduced it in 2008, enhancing the responsiveness and turning speed for any size kite.

Reflex Relaunch

Whether the kite dives onto the water or tumbles through the waves, it doesn’t matter. The exclusive kite design forces the wingtips out of the water and to the edge of the window. Virtually no work is needed to get back up and riding.

CONSTRUCTION

Bridle Attachment Point

Internally constructed, the leading edge has twice as many reinforcement patches. That means larger LE impact loads resistance, and additional protection from the constant wear and abrasion.

Insignia Tape

We know you like to ride hard. That’s why the SB has 25% more Insignia Tape in the delicate areas surrounding the LE. You can be confident this kite will endure even the toughest impact.

Dacron 160HPE

Unique Dacron material used for the leading edge, struts and tips is considerably lighter, but efficiently stronger - thanks to our tried-and-tested, innovative box threading design, which has a more rigid construction and allows for a tighter weave.

Valve Reinforcements

Additional valve reinforcements were added to firmly fix the patch to the bladder. One from below and one from above. We’ve also purpose-designed a new bladder adhesive to suit the unique requirements of kite construction.

LE Closing Seam

The LE seam is sealed with three layers of stitching, double layered Insignia Tape reinforcement and a final protective Dacron seam.

Teijin Techno Force

Our top of the line Techno Force canopy material has been a mainstay of our product line for 4 years and has proven to be superior to anything else on the market.

Molded LE Guards

Molded LE guards are lighter, more aerodynamic and effectively protect the kite from all your outrageous wipeouts.

MAD 2 Air Flow System

The specially-designed valve pieces on the Skinny Boy’s one-pump system are 100% foolproof. Trust us, you’ll be pumped up and ready to ride in no time!

DESIGNER'S Q&A

When you sat down to design the Skinny Boy, what were the important characteristics you felt had to be in a wave kite?

Apart from the typical features you expect like drift and depower, it was important for us to design a wave kite that would perform well in various wind conditions and not limited to ideal side-off kite spots. This was achieved by designing an efficiently powered and more importantly, a fast-turning kite. A fast-turning kite lets you be dynamic and flexible, able to make the most out of the wave.

What was the biggest challenge you faced coming out with the Skinny Boy and how did you over come it?

To design a powerful kite that also has great depower was something that was very tricky. We kept the profile of the kite strong, as we have done on our other kites, and developed a new 3-point bridle system with two pulleys to give maximum depower. The longer the distance the pulleys travel, the bigger the depower range. With our bridle configuration we were able to increase this distance and provide more depower.

What is the one advantage you feel the Skinny Boy has over other wave kites?

Since the SB has exceptional low-end, the kiter has the privilege of using a relatively small kite that delivers powerful and quick turning performance. This takes the wave riding experience to a new level.
